Purple-Fields-netherlands-tour-2020

SEEING HEATHER IN FULL BLOOM

From mid-August to about mid-September many areas close to some national parks turn to purple. It is a unique and spectacular landscape everyone should see at least ones. Join us for a unique photography experience through some of the most beautiful sandy and hilly landscapes The Netherlands has to offer during this fascinating season. We will start our tours at first morning lights to appreciate the soft light hopefully diffused by the morning mist. If we are lucky, we might encounter on our way wild horses, wild pig and deer. We will also take the opportunity to visit some beautiful surrounding forests to make our nature photography complete. Icing on the cake, get ready some the spectacular sunset at the north sea coast.

Day 1 - Sunrise over the purple fields

We will start our tour with an early morning walk at the beautiful purple fields in the Postbank. There are multiple paths that can be used to explore this magnificent landscape. We will pick on the one that is blooming the most. Our walk around the hills will take most of the morning. If we are lucky, we will come across the wild horses living in the area.

Day 2 - Forest rivers in the Belgian Ardennes

For the enthusiastic photographers, we have added a stop in Belgium you will not regret to have visited. At less than 2 hours driving, we will walk through the mountains of the Belgian Ardeness. Situated in the south-east of Belgium, the Ardennes are one of nature's unspoiled areas, rich in fauna and flora, with vast forests, hills and fast flowing rivers. We will take you through some beautiful forest paths with fast flowing rivers. A true unique landscape for long exposure photography.

Day 3 - City trips and sunset at the north sea

During the day we will visit two must-see cities: Delft, where the famous "blue Delft ceramic" is from and Rotterdam, the most amazing Dutch city for stunning and modern architecture. In the afternoon we will head towards the north coast direction Scheveningen giving us the opportunity to catch some spectacular sunrise images. Scheveningen is a modern seaside resort with a long, sandy beach, an esplanade, a pier, and a lighthouse. The beach is popular for water sports such as windsurfing and kite boarding. Get ready some spectacular scenarios.

Day 4 - Purple field at sunrise and deer spotting at sunset

There are places that the more you visit, the more you love it. This is the case of the Posbank. For this second excursions will go through other paths offering some other fantastic photography opportunities. We plan to stay for only part of the morning after which we will explore the surrounding forest areas. Our day will end at the Nationaal Park De Hoge Veluwe to spot deer and reed. It will be the beginning of the mating season giving us the opportunity to sit back and observe these beautiful resident of the park. A minimal focal lengh of 200 mm is advised.

Day 5 - Forest morning light in the Veluwe

In the 5 we will drive back to the Veluwe National Park but towards the norther part to catch the morning lights. Dutch people voted the Veluwe region as the finest area of scenic beauty in the country. It is where forests, sand drifts, lichen steppes and heathlands form a splendid natural landscape. And where you can spot the Dutch ‘Big Five’: foxes, badgers, roe deer, wild boar and red deer, as well as Highland cattle, beavers and hundreds of other mammals and birds.
